We are pleased to offer our customers complete carpentry services at reasonable prices. These range from cutting and fitting kitchen worktops to forming a roof carcass for a larger project.
As part of the carpentry services offered by DKM Developments Ltd we understand the need to use the correct type of timber for the project. For example all external timber works we use C16 or C24 pressure treated timber. This gives the wood the strength it needs as well as protection against rot and insect infestation.
Internal carpentry services offered by DKM Developments Ltd include cutting and fitting laminate and solid wood kitchen worktops such as the one shown in the photograph above. We have the correct jigs for mitred corners and undermount sinks with drainage grooves and use highly specialist Trend router systems to ensure that the finish is at the top end.
We source our timber sustainably checking that our suppliers are buying wholesale timber from sustainable forests.
Internal partition stud walls
For internal partition stud walls we use CLS framing timber fixed with screws and nails and built to our customer’s requirements with a little help on the design side.
Roof structure, joisted floors and external stud walls
We provide an extension building service and have built many extensions for our customers over the years. As we are creative by nature we prefer to hand cut our roofs rather than relying on pre-fabricated, trussed units. This allows us to alter the design as required by our customers – in some instances we have been able to provide extra roof storage space and a useable area simply by altering the roof design as we build it.
Hand cutting also allows us to give customers more finishing options with regards to fascia and soffits, gutter style and size and roof termination. Recently we built a roof with a larger than design overhang. This allowed the client an extra bit of patio shelter plus the added effect of exterior downlighters inset into the soffit board.
For roof carcasses and external stud walls we use C16 and C24 grade pressure treated timbers fixed with nails and bolts. Cutting and fixing these timbers is determined by the specifications provided by the structural engineer.
We pride ourselves on the high quality of our finish and are often praised highly by our customers for this. Our second fix, or finish carpentry, ranges from fitting skirting and architraves to kitchen worktops.
For skirtings and architraves we use primed MDF which makes it simpler for decorating as well as providing a long lasting easy clean surface. We have the tools (router and jigs) and skills to cut and fit kitchen worktops made from coated compressed chipboard and solid hardwoods such as oak. This includes cutting drainage grooves and under mount sink housings.
We also offer a door hanging service which includes removing existing doors, cutting and hanging the new door and fittings hinges, handles, latch plates and locks. We can also fit and hang doors from new.
